Kent Cricket League Premier Division champions Hartley put the disappointment of the previous weekend’s washout behind them with a two-wicket success over Bromley.

The home side lost the toss as visitors Bromley elected to bat first, although their opening duo of Andrew Wright (7) and James Butterfill (10) departed inside four overs.

When Callum Basey (1) quickly went LBW off the delivery of Daniel Redwood (4-31), Bromley looked in trouble on 26-3.

Miguel Barbosa (23) did his best to ease their nerves before he was caught by James Hockley to leave the visitors on 60-5.

Freddie Wilson (38) then enjoyed the most productive spell with the bat for Bromley but he was eventually caught by Sam Weller as his side was bowled out for 148.

Hartley had a postive start as they set about chasing the target, Lewis Hickford (15) the home team’s first casualty as the score reached 36-1.

Fellow opener Dan Stickels (32) made a solid contribution until he went LBW off Dominic Reed’s ball to put Hartley on 77-4.

Reed was in inspired mood (5-45) but even he couldn’t dislodge James Thompson (48no) as the hosts wrapped up what was a fairly comfortable victory inside 35 overs.

Junaid Nadir produced some outstanding bowling form (8-16) as Beckenham (137-7) required just 30 overs to secure a three-wicket win at Bickley Park (136).

The stunning haul ensured Bickley Park were all out after 41 overs despite the best efforts of Daniel Magin (61) and Jos Siddall (34), who were just two of Nadir’s victims.

Tail-end batsman Nadir (2no) was only required to play a minor role in Beckenham’s batting response, as Chris Isles (24), Raza Ali Dar (26) and Alex Blake (47) all weighed in with decent scoring returns.

Jahid Ahmed (120) was instrumental as Blackheath (263-6) proved too hot to handle for Lordswood (229).

By the time Ahmed’s opening batting partner Chris Willetts (28) was caught by Shaun Piesley, Blackheath stood on 99-1.

That had climbed to 190-3 when Jack Richardson’s catch finally ended Ahmed’s innings and although Daniel Masters (3-49) claimed a trio of wickets, Lordswood fell someway short of dislodging their visitors.

Ahmed claimed the early scalp of Zach Plews (0) as the home side made a shaky start on 9-1, although the score had climbed to a more respectable 49-2 by the time the next wicket – Lyndon Lockhart (20) – left the field.

But Lordswood will be kicking themselves after coming within half an over of avoiding defeat, the bowling expertise of James Hands and catching of Tanweer Sikandar coming to Blackheath’s rescue as final batsman Daniel Masters went for nought with only three balls remaining.

Only three Bexley (109) batsmen reached double figures as their side went down to a three-wicket setback at Sevenoaks Vine.

Matthew Stiddard (30), Henry Pickering (17) and Jasdev Bassan (14) were the trio in question, but even these moderate scores could not prevent Sevenoaks (112-7) picking up maximum points in just 28 overs.
