David Forde has hinted he wants to stay at Millwall after helping the club to Championship safety.
The Lions’ final-day victory over Bournemouth guaranteed a fifth successive season of second-tier football.
And the out of contract stopper, who was voted player of the year by fans, revealed he wants to be between the posts at The Den when the new campaign kicks off in August.
Forde said: “My contract finishes so we will have to have a chat with John Berylson and the manager to see where we are at.
“We had briefly spoken and the aim since Ian came in was to get safe and then we would talk.
“We didn’t want it to take this long but the main aim was to stay in the division and chat then, so we will see what happens.”
He added: “Keeping a clean sheet always helps and making a few saves with the chairman watching (against Bournemouth) was an added bonus.
“But besides me, I am just delighted for the club and everyone here.
“I have been here for a long time - six years and nearly 300 games - and this club means a lot to me.
“I was very emotional coming off the pitch so hopefully we can get something sorted.”
And the keeper firmly believes Millwall can challenge at the right end of the table next time around in what will be Holloway’s first full campaign in charge.
“Under the manager Ian Holloway the future is bright,” said the Irish international.
“We can be very successful here.
“It has shown not only over the last eight games, but certainly since he’s come to the club that he is an exceptional manager.”
Ireland’s number one saw out the season with another impressive display against the Cherries, which ensured the Lions ended the season unbeaten in eight matches.
“It is fantastic that run we have gone on,” Forde said.
“There was a real belief, and even when the manager first came in and we weren’t getting the results, that we deserved more.
“I was more worried last year when we were struggling to get over the line but we have shown that we are a good side.
“Certainly it is the best squad assembled since I have been at the club and under Holloway we have shown that we can be successful.”
