Millwall boss Ian Holloway has dismissed his manager of the month nomination as irrelevant as all of his focus turns to Saturday’s must-win game against Bournemouth.

The Lions are currently two places and two points above current holders of the dreaded final third relegation spot, Birmingham City.

Millwall go into the game unbeaten in seven, impressive form which sees Holloway in the running for the April manager of the month gong, something which doesn’t concern the man in question in the slightest.

“I’m not interested about manager of the month, I only have one thing on my mind and that’s winning,” the gaffer insisted..

“It’s just winning.”

Saturday is certain to be a tense occasion at The Den but Ollie has asked fans who insist on being negative to stay away.

He said: “I want to ask people why are they going?

“If you're going to moan and shout at people because you're not happy then don't bother coming.

“I don't want you to turn up and think ‘This lot aren't good’ and have a go at them, I don't want that.

“I want to encourage people.”

Holloway added: “If they get it wrong I want to be there for them and I want to try and discourage the opposition by shouting and screaming at them.

“If someone isn't doing it, I’ll bring them off.

“I've never met anyone who doesn't want to do it, and particularly here they want to do it.

“At the end of the day if someone misses a chance it takes another three for them to score, that’s one shot closer to the next goal we’re going to get because we are creating chances now.

“I can't understand why people go if they want to moan. I think we've been fine.

“We’ve had some terrible referees and some terrible misses, but now is the time we will hit the target as we’re more relaxed. We’ve got more belief in ourselves.”

Six weeks ago Millwall were bottom of the league and seemingly dead and buried, although their upturn in fortunes means they are now just one positive result away from safety.

But even if the worst possible scenario happens and the Lions do drop to League One, Holloway insists all that matters is Millwall and having supporters turn up on Saturday who want the best for the club.

The manager said: “We’ve turned a horrible situation into a chance.

“I want everyone there who is excited about us, our future and who is optimistic.

“And if it goes wrong, they’ll remain optimistic for next season because surely that’s what it's all about it's about - the club itself and what it means to all the players, staff, management and supporters.

“We’re all in this together, that’s the skill of this football club.”

And the manager is taking some inspiration looking to the future from what one of this year’s lesser lights in the division has achieved.

Holloway said: “When you look at the Championship this season, Burnley have proved anything is possible.

“They lost their so-called best player and it is down to their manager getting them all together and working hard and the fans sticking together.

“What I know about them is you'll never see a Burnley fan with a Manchester United, Arsenal or Chelsea shirt on, they love Burnley.

“I'm telling you everywhere I go there's Millwall people that just love Millwall and I need them at the ground Saturday cheering on out lads trying to encourage them.

“I’ve come here because I am ambitious.

“It won’t deter me whatever happens, but I want us to be positive and the players to believe in themselves.”
