West Wickham runner Michael Eagling made a top three finish in the London mini marathon U13 boys’ race.
The 13-year-old Trinity School pupil was representing Bromley in the London borough three-mile challenge and crossed the line in third place out of a field of 223 runners with a time of 16m45s.
A new course record was set by the winner, with Eagling just four seconds behind the runner-up.
He said: “I was very nervous, as I knew the competition was tough and I was aiming for the top places.
“It was a hard race but my experience from last year taught me to dig deep and keep chasing.
“I was delighted to fulfil my goal and win bronze.”
