A Beckenham athlete completed an impressive hat-trick by winning three gold medals for Great Britain at the world masters indoor championships in Budapest.
Clare Elms delivered strong finishes over the last 400m to prove herself the greatest woman runner in the world over the age of 50.
She won the W50 800m (2m21.27s), 1,500m (4m44.89s) - both world records for her age group even though Elms has recently run faster times waiting to be ratified - and the 3,000m (10m11.17s) where she defeated world record holder Fiona Matheson.
All of the Beckenham runner’s displays were superior to the younger W45 age group.
Six months ago Elms took gold in the W50 world sprint triathlon championships at Hyde Park.
The Dulwich Runners AC member, who is also a second claim for Blackheath & Bromley Harriers, has 13-year-old triplets, Alex, James and Lucy, and only began running in 2006, going on to win more than 300 races.
