Bromley manager Mark Goldberg accepts his side’s recent run has been a frustrating one for everyone involved with the club.

Last night the boss saw his side lose 2-1 to table-topping Eastleigh at Hayes Lane and despite having the better of the play throughout the contest, the Ravens found themselves on the end of another defeat.

The home side had a whole host of chances, but were denied by Ross Flitney in the Eastleigh goal throughout the first half and much of the second too.

Striker Ben Wright put the visitors ahead just after quarter of an hour somewhat against the run of play, before Bromley defender Rob Swaine clawed his side back into the game before the interval.

On the hour mark the league leaders retook the lead when Wright stepped to score his and Eastleigh’s second of the contest from the penalty spot to all but end Bromley’s chances of automatic promotion.

Goldberg admitted: “It’s been the story of the past few matches where we’ve dominated possession, created chances and only conceded one or two chances in the whole game.

“But the opposition have somehow managed to capitalise on them when we haven’t capitalised on our domination.

“You hope that it’s going to break for us.

“If we keep creating chances and playing as we are the tide will turn, something that’s going to be vital in the remaining matches of the season.

“At some stage I might need to change some things to make those changes in fortune happen.”

The defeat means they have now won just two of their 11 league games since the start of March, but Goldberg insists it’s not for the want of trying.

He said: “The record in the last month is obviously very disappointing but our performances are better than our results - and in truth we’ve been quite unlucky.

“We went through a four-week period where we had a depleted spine and a damaged back four through injuries, which is rather unfortunate they all came at the same time.

“But these happen in during the season and all in all if we knew that we were going to be in third position at this stage of the season with four games to go, we would have been delighted.”

Bromley must now dust themselves down and get ready for the end of season play-off lottery, something which Goldberg recognises the importance of.

The boss said: “It’s great that these next few games can now see us start to prepare for the play-offs.

“For this football club that really is a great position to be in.”

The manger remains in buoyant mood despite last night’s loss, having seen a 1,000 strong crowd packed into Hayes Lane last night.

He said: “The support was there yesterday and it just shows that the club has got great potential.

“The crowds have kept coming this year and I’ve noticed that we seem to be gradually building a network of supporters.

“We are giving them entertaining football , even though the results aren’t going our way at the moment.”
