Dionne Lennon is urging Millwall fans to pack out The Den this season as the Lionesses bid to make their Women’s Super League debut one to remember.

Lennon is in her tenth year at the club, beginning her career as a striker at Docklands Ladies only to move to right midfield when she first joined Millwall.

She now finds herself at right back but while she’s been steadily moving backwards on the field in terms of playing position, it’s been nothing but forward off it for the club.

On April 16 Millwall will embark on their first campaign in the newly-expanded WSL when they play Watford in their opening game of the season as they form part of a freshly introduced ten-team second tier of the Super League.

And Lennon believes this term will be made even more memorable by the fact they will be playing at The Den, hoping home comforts can help the Lionesses leave their mark on the competition.

“Originally we were meant to play at Champion Hill but now we are down at The Den it is fantastic, and hopefully the supporters will come down to our home games as much as they can,” she said.

“The fans have always been really involved with the team when we have been down there before and they’re always asking how the team are doing.

“This will be my tenth season with Millwall, I have been through everything with the club, from promotion, relegation and now playing in the WSL will be really special.

“I can’t wait for the new season to begin it has been a long time since we last played in the winter league.”

Millwall finished second in the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division last season behind fellow WSL 2 outfit Reading, who beat them 2-0 in the final game.

The Royals have already downed Millwall in the FA Cup this term but Lennon, who works as a youth worker, is looking to exact some revenge when it comes to league matters.

“The result was obviously disappointing in the FA Cup, especially off the back of losing the league to them last season,” Lennon added.

“We felt like we owed them a result so it was a shame that we were not able to get the result that we think we deserved.

“It would have been nice to get through to the next round as well, it was only 2-1 and was a good indication to see where we are at in the build up to the WSL.”

The FA Women's Super League has been newly expanded to two leagues for 2014.
