AFC Wimbledon boss Neil Ardley has finally got his man after landing Crystal Palace striker Kwesi Appiah on loan for the rest of the season.

The 23-year-old forward who was signed by Palace two years ago from Margate came to the attention of Ardley after scoring 10 goals in 14 games at Cambridge United earlier this season.

Appiah will be hoping to bolster the Dons’ play-off push as they are currently ten points behind seventh placed York City.

Speaking to Dons Player, Ardley said: ““Kwesi has been on our radar all season.

“He scored 10 goals at Cambridge United earlier this season and he has played recently for Notts County.

“We had been looking to try and strengthen in this area because we are without players up front at the moment. Charlie Wyke is set to go back soon, Charlie Sheringham is out on loan, Jack Midson is now suspended and Danny Hylton has been ill.

“When we realised that Kwesi was back at Palace and available we worked hard to bring him in this week.

“He is quick, direct and is a good finisher. Kwesi will bring that directness and he’s a strong boy. He offers something different from what we’ve got up front at the current time.”

The Dons are away to Mansfield this weekend.
