MILLWALL boss Ian Holloway has challenged his side to win "promotion to the Championship" with 12 games left of the season.

The Lions find themselves in a relegation battle and unsure of which division they will be playing in next season, and boss Ollie wants his side to win the relegation mini league and get promoted to stay in the league.

He said: “I’ve challenged my lads and now we've got 12 cup finals left, because I want to get promoted to the Championship, it’s very simple.

“I want to get promoted to the Championship.

“I don't like relegation battles.

“That means you've been useless.

“I want us to try to get promoted to this Championship because, what a fantastic league it is."

Ollie’s men make the arduous midweek trip to Lancashire to take on Blackpool on Tuesday night and Holloway is far from pleased about how the fixture has been given a midweek spot.

He said: “It’s horrendous isn't it?

“When we’ve finished that game, we will be travelling back to London and we won't be back until 3.30am or 4am."

After Tuesday night, Millwall face local-rivals and fellow relegation candidates Charlton and Ollie added: “That won't be one for the faint-hearted I can assure you.

“Hopefully I won’t have too many walking wounded, I feel I've got probably four players out from today."

Millwall look likely to be without defensive options in Scott Malone and Danny Shittu due to injury. The Lions will also be sweating on the fitness of forward DJ Campbell (hamstring) and Shane Lowry (knee).
