Bromley manager Mark Goldberg was left frustrated after his side could only manage a 2-2 home draw with Bath City on Saturday.

An equaliser from his son Bradley followed by a stunning volley from Danny Waldren cancelled out an early Bath opener.

However, the league leaders were pegged back by an Andy Watkins strike at Hayes Lane and forced to settle for a share of the spoils.

The Lillywhites boss said: “I’m disappointed because we did enough to have got the points, we had 12 decent goal-scoring opportunities and they had three.

“In a way we shouldn’t need to score more than two to win a game.

“But we need to look at the fact we did what a team need to do, which is to create more chances.

“The two goals we scored were very well taken, yet we probably missed some chances that were a lot easier.”

Bromley equalised after 20 minutes when Jay May’s knockdown was fired in by Bradley Goldberg for his 18th league goal of the season.

The Hayes Lane chief reserved special praise for the striker and said: “Although he is my son, the first half was all about Brad, he was fantastic.

“He kept getting on the ball and making things happen, his goal was superb.”

The match was Pierre Joseph-Dubois’s 100th game for Bromley and the manager paid tribute to the player afterwards, despite substituting him.

He said: “Normally he would have buried his two chances today but defensively he does an amazing job.

“I think I made a mistake taking him off.”

Next up for Bromley are Sutton United who currently sit in the play-off places, with Goldberg predicting a similar test.

He explained: “I am expecting the same as we faced today.

“They have two very experienced players up front who are going to be very much like Andy Watkins and Josh Low who played well today.

“On the break they will be capable of causing problems.

“They will try and pop it around as well.”

Despite failing to beat Bath, the manager does not think the Sutton clash is a must-win encounter.

Goldberg explained: “Every game we have to go into believing we can win, but it depends on what you’re looking at as must-win.

“The fact we are competing and even thinking about the league title is a fabulous position to be in.

“I’m not sure any game is must-win, but it is very important we don’t lose our confidence and we build on the momentum of the season so far.”

Bromley face Sutton at Hayes Lane tomorrow evening, kick-off 7.45pm.
