Glenn Murray has what it takes to fire the Eagles to safety as Crystal Palace go into the final third of the season, according to team-mate Thomas Ince.

The Eagles have just 12 games remaining in their attempt to stave of relegation from the top flight for the first time since the league’s inception in 1992.

And despite losing on the day to reigning champions Manchester United on Saturday, their survival chances were given a huge boost as Murray made his first start of the season.

Ince said: “You saw on Saturday what Glenn gives you.

“He’s still not 100 percent but he’s a real handful for defenders and he had a few half chances here and there.

“A stronger and fitter Glenn Murray will get you more goals for this club and that’s what we need.

“The 60 or so minutes he got will do him the world of good, and the reception he got will do him good as well.

“He’ll have a full week in training and if Glenn plays again this week, I’m sure Swansea will be fearing Glenn Murray.

“We’ve got options now and that is great for us going into the final third of the season, starting with Swansea.”

Palace’s vital run-in begins with that trip to south Wales and Ince is confident Tony Pulis’ side have enough going forward to cause problems for the Swans.

He explained: “The game against Swansea is one we are really looking to get our teeth into looking to take three points.

“We need to work hard ahead of the game because they will be a completely different opposition and one that we feel we can take three points from.

“You have to look at the teams in and around you and while Swansea play some nice football, will they be able to handle the threat that we pose?

“We’ve got Glenn Murray coming back and looking stronger than ever, Chamakh, Bolasie, Puncheon and myself, so when they expand and look to play their brand of football we’ll be looking to capitalise and break on them like we did against West Brom.”

Ince added: “It’s different when you play against Man United because they keep the ball so well.

“But Swansea on the other hand, while they play a similar way to United, they don’t have the Wayne Rooneys and Robin Van Persies there to kill you off if you make even the slightest error.

“We’ve got to work hard to nullify Swansea’s game and then when we get on the ball we’ll look to cause them big problems with what we do.”
