CRYSTAL Palace Diving Club returned from the Armada Cup with a haul of medals, including six golds.

The four-day event in Plymouth featured clubs from across the Uk, with a 26-strong Crystal Palace squad enjoying plenty of success.

They finished third overall in the medals table behind Plymouth and Sheffield, competing in 25 competitions ranging from nine-years-old to 16 + years, including 1m and 3m solo and synchro, platform (5m and 7.5m) and a specialist high dive competition from the 10m board.

The gold medal winners were: Maria Papworth (girls’ C1m springboard), Scarlett Mew-Jensen (girls’ C 3m springboard), Mew-Jensen and Maria Papworth (girls’13 and under 1m synchro), Pele Julien (boys’ C 1m springboard), Tyler Humphreys (boys’ E/D 3m springboard).

Silver: Amelia Connolly & Florence Smith (girls’ 13 and under 1m synchro), Grace May (girls’ B platform), Mew-Jensen (girls’ C 1m springboard), Tia Monk and Maddie Sweet (girls’ 14-18 3m synchro), Humphreys (boys’ E/D 1m platform and E/D 5m platform).

Bronze: Smith (girls’ C 3m springboard and C platform), Jing Leung (women’s 16+ platform), Sweet (girls’ B 3m springboard), Olivia Jones and Ella Whiting (girls’ 14-18 3m synchro), Williams (boys’ B 3m springboard and B platform).

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace DC have produced seven out of the 15 divers selected by the England talent zone squad on the pathway towards elite and Olympic development.

The next training camp is due to be held in early March at London Olympic Aquatic Centre in Stratford.

Up and coming competitions next month include a novice to national skills (levels 1 and 2) in Waltham Forest and an age-group (level 3) at the G-Star diving competition in Leeds.
