DARTFORD Harriers members had a busy weekend competing at a trio of events.

Several represented the club at Saturday’s English cross country national championships take at Wollaton Park in Nottingham.

Holly Page finished eighth in the U15 girls’ race.

Chloe Sharp had a strong run as well, finishing a very creditable 40th.

Rebecca Burford, Ellie Coleman and Amy Hart finished 289th, 330th and 333rd respectively, meaning the U15 girls placed 19th overall.

In the U13 races, Cameron Sharp finished 194th ahead of Rowan Burford who crossed the line 377th in the boys’ race, while in the girls race Claudia Bates and Jasmine Fairman finished 353rd and 376th respectively in their first national event.

Connor Burford finished 226th in the U17 men’s race, and Bonnie Maugey was the sole representative in the U17 women’s event, where she placed 180th.

Alex Cameron ran well to finish 125th in the U20 men’s category.

Craig Sharp and Reuben Burford took on the gruelling 12km course in the senior men’s race.

Sharp finished 470th with Burford 756th in a field of more than 1,600 runners.

The weekend also saw the BUCS indoor championships take place in Sheffield, where a trio of Dartford athletes competed wearing the colours of their respective universities.

Jodie Leslie ran a personal best of 26.31s to finish third in her 200m heat and qualify for the semi-finals, where she finished fourth after running a strong leg on Bedfordshire University's 4x200m relay team.

Rob Hammond jumped a season’s best of 6.29m in the long jump and ran the opening leg for the University of Sussex in the men's 4x200m.

Thomas Howlett represented Brunel University in the 60m hurdles (8.86s) for fourth place in his heat, before jumping 1.88m in the high jump final to finish 11th.

Howlett also competed in the shot putt, recording a distance of 12.42m, and the long jump, where he jumped out to 6.40m to finish fifth in his qualifying pool.

Elsewhere, brothers Oliver and James Hussey were selected to represent Kent in the Sportshall regional finals at Burgess Hill at the weekend.

Oliver won the shot putt, setting a new games record of 13.68m, and finished sixthh in the four-lap race before taking fourth in the standing long jump, narrowly missing out on qualification for the British team by two places.

James, meanwhile, finished fourth in the shot putt with a new personal best, and sixth in the four-lap race.
