WINGER Thomas Ince was left disappointed after a 62nd minute penalty denied the Eagles a chance to earn some bonus points against champions Manchester United on Saturday at a packed Selhurst Park.

The hosts had frustrated United until just after the hour mark when Marouane Chamakh made a desperate challenge on Patrice Evra as the French left-back burst into the area, leaving referee Michael Oliver no option but to point to the spot.

Ince said: “When the big boys visit we know that these games are more bonus games than anything, so you’ve got to go out there and enjoy it.

“The penalty changed the game.

“Up until the penalty things were going OK.

“The referee was spot on, it was probably a penalty and from that point on United controlled the game and when the second went in it was incredibly difficult for us.

“We needed to hold out for another 10 minutes and then it could have got a little bit more exciting.

“But they got the penalty and you can’t give people like Wayne Rooney that type of space around the box.

“The lads dug in so well but 2-0 was probably a fair reflection of the game in the end.”
