DARTFORD manager Tony Burman is looking for his team to top a five club mini-league in order to secure Conference survival.

The Darts picked up their third win from four matches last night with an emphatic 5-1 Princes Park triumph over Woking to propel them within two points of safety.

And with a Hereford United side who were beaten 7-0 at Luton last weekend visiting Princes Park on Saturday, Burman is hopeful his side can take advantage of their ever-increasing momentum.

The Darts boss said: “We have made a vast improvement at the right time and if we continue that form in the next two months, then who knows what might happen?

“We are giving ourselves a bit of a chance at the moment and we are building a little bit of a run. We have got some belief back into the camp.”

But despite the Bulls’ recent hiding at Kenilworth Road, Burman isn’t convinced now is the ideal time to meet what is sure to be a wounded team.

He added: “On Saturday we have to make the most of being at home and hopefully that will continue with the supporters and the crowd, because it could be a bad time to play Hereford.

“They are a full-time outfit. We are in for a tough game and I am expecting Hereford to have a response from the Luton game, so I am anticipating as tougher game as we have played.

“We have got to take each game one-by-one, but although we are only two points from safety, there is a little league that has started - and there are five teams in it.

“We have got to get to the top of those five teams, stay ther and hopefully get higher.

“There is a long way to go and you are never safe until it is mathematically impossible to go down, however long that takes, which will be over the next couple of months.”

Dartford fell behind last night on four minutes when Scott Rendell poked Woking ahead, but a double from Luton loanee Alex Wall, sandwiched in between a red card for the visitors’ Joe Jones, turned the tide before the break.

Two goals from Max Cornwick and one from Lee Noble sealed the result and Burman was delighted to see his side improve their goal difference. “The main thing was the three pints, but to win by that margin was a bonus for us.

“Getting five goals is going to help out goal difference, which hasn’t been that good, and that has put us a little bit closer to the other teams around us.”
