LEWISHAM super middleweight Rossco Parker says there will be no complacency this time when he returns to action next month at the iconic Alexandra Palace.

Parker will take on previous conqueror Artur Gorka on March 15 in a mouth-watering sequel to their epic 2012 encounter which ended with the Lewisham man coming off second best to the powerful Polish fighter.

And this time Parker has promised to give Gorka his full respect when the pair reacquaint themselves on the undercard of the aptly named Capital Shakedown promotion.

After enjoying mixed fortunes since entering the Queensbury Boxing League back in 2012, Parker has set his sights on putting in the performance of his league career when he competes on the shows biggest night of all time.

And the 36-year-old feels confident the result against Gorka will be a very different outcome than in their previous encounter.

Parker said: “Looking back at the first fight against Gorka I was really surprised at just how strong he was.

“To be honest he took me by surprise, as I was just too complacent about winning that fight.

“This time around I will be giving him my full respect and I’m coming into the rematch with a very different mindset knowing exactly what he brings to the contest.

“I know you will see a completely different animal in the ring on the night.

“Training wise I’ve started my preparation just after Christmas, so there will be no mistakes in doing the weight.

“Tactically I’m not looking at just going in there and trying to steamroller him, I need to perform so much better and use my boxing skills to get the result.”

Since Parker’s first clash with Gorka the Pole has gone on to claim the Queensbury league’s regional super middleweight title in a run which has yet to see him taste defeat.

But Parker is confident that will count for little in their imminent return.

“We’ve both moved on from our first fight and I’ve kept a close eye on his progress so I know he’s improved.

“But this time around I’ve got a plan A and plan B for the fight, which I did not have last time around, so although the respect will be there, I’m going in there to end that undefeated record.”

Parker’s rematch with Gorka will take place on March 15 at the Alexandra Palace.
