MARTYN Woolford scored an 82nd minute equaliser for Millwall as they came from behind at The Den to draw with Bolton.

The Lions dominated the first half but found themselves behind when Lukas Jutkiewicz headed the Trotters in front on quarter of an hour.

The draw means Millwall, who have only won one game in their last 12, are now four points clear of the relegation zone.

Both teams were struggling for form going into the game but it was the hosts who started the better, Jermaine Easter seeing a fifth minute 20-yard effort fly just wide of the goal.

Despite all of Millwall’s early pressure, Bolton took the lead against the run of play when Chris Eagles found space on the left and his pin-point cross was glanced in by the head of Jutkiewicz via the post.

However, the goal couldn’t knock Millwall’s confidence. Ian Holloway’s side looked destined to equalise in the 20th minute as Woolford broke free but his effort was superbly cleared off the line by David Wheater.

Millwall were playing the better of the two teams and a decent Easter strike was also cleared off the line five minutes later.

Bolton hadn’t kept a clean sheet in eight games before their trip to The Den but some impressive defending ensured they went in at half-time with their narrow advantage intact.

Eagles was inches away from doubling Bolton’s lead in the 51st minute but his 25-yard free-kick hit the inside of the post and was cleared away to safety.

Holloway was clearly unhappy with proceedings and made a triple substitution in the 56th-minute with Simeon Jackson, DJ Campbell, and Scott McDonald replacing Lee Martin, Ed Upson and Easter.

And the changes did make a difference for Millwall as Campbell went close 10 minutes after coming on but saw his header floated just over the bar.

But the home side still looked fragile at the back and might have gone further behind in the 67th-minute when Alex Baptiste fired home, only for the strike to be ruled out for offside.

The Lions continued to threaten, though, with Woolford forcing a great save out of Adam Bogdan before Scott Malone shot wide from 25-yards.

Bolton had the perfect opportunity to put the game beyond Millwall when the referee awarded a penalty in the 77th minute after Danny Shittu was adjudged to have handled in the area, but Forde saved Jetkiewicz’s spot-kick brilliantly.

And the visitors were made to pay for their missed opportunity just five minutes later when Woolford restored parity.

Morison broke clear down the right and picked out Jackson, who forced a good save out of Bogdan only for Woolford to react quickest to get on the end of the rebound and fired home to rescue a point.
