SAXON Crown Swimming Club bagged five golds at Hackney SC’s long distance gala.

Renee Sommerville set the tone for the Lewisham team by claiming gold in the 11-year-olds 800m, followed by Rosie Davies, Katherine Curtis and Francesca Kingston in the 13, 14 and 15-year-old age groups respectively.

Simone Amos and Laura Kerr were also among the medals, as all of the girls set big personal bests.

Not to be outdone, Michael Foster then struck gold in the 14-year-olds 1,500m, close to a national qualifying time with a swim of 17m05s.

Nathaniel Stratton smashed 17 seconds off his previous best outing.

The gala caps a successful season for Saxon Crown, gaining promotion in the Kent Junior League and entering 22 swimmers to the Kent county championships, which start next month.
