PAUL Sherman has agreed to become the new head professional at Langley Park Golf Club and will take up the role next month.

Mr Sherman had been head professional at Ashford (Kent) GC since 2009 and prior to this was the head teaching professional at Birchwood Park GC.

He is a fully qualified class AA PGA coach and was the captain of the PGA south region from 2008 to 2010.

The new Langley Park head pro has also played on both the European and challenge tours and recently won the Andalusian overseas PGA open at the world famous Valderrama Club.

Meanwhile, 15-year-old Tom Jordan has set a new amateur course record at the Beckenham club.

The youngster shot an impressive 63, which included a remarkable run of four birdies in six holes.

Tom and his twin brother Max, who both play off scratch, have recently been selected for SE England coaching, together with fellow Langley Park GC juniors George Mullins and Fraser Mackie.

A Langley Park spokesman said: “With four players receiving England coaching, the Langley Park junior section goes from strength to strength, thanks mainly to organisers Geoff Dicken and Phil McBrown.

“However, the section is not full and Geoff and Phil are always willing to receive new applications.”
