DARTFORD Harriers’ David Hall clinched the national title at the England Athletics senior and U20 combined events championships in Sheffield.

On the road to victory, Hall recorded four personal bests from his seven events, as well as his highest ever overall score in the U20 age group.

His new personal best of 5,195 points is also a new club record for Dartford Harriers and he has now been selected for the British team, along with club-mate Thomas Howlett who won the silver medal, making it a Dartford one-two for the training partners.

Meanwhile, the Kent cross country championships took place earlier this month on a tough, demanding course in Hythe.

With wet and windy conditions making for a series of treacherous races, many athletes suffered falls, but battled on defiantly against the elements.

Dartford’s highest finisher was Holly Page, who continued a strong showing in the cross country this season with a second-placed finish in the U15 girls’ category.

Chloe Sharp was close behind and finished 11th, with Rebecca Burford and Ellie Coleman, who finished 28th and 41st respectively, completing the U15 girls’ team which finished fourth overall.

Cameron Sharp led the Dartford finishers home in the under-13 boys race in 26th, with Ben McNally and Max Taylor finishing 32nd and 33rd.

Cary Kwaramba-Downs narrowly held off the challenge of fellow Dartford Harrier Camille Cerely in the U13 girls’ race, as the pair finished 36th and 37th respectively.

Lucas Taylor-Costin was the sole representative for Dartford in the U15 boys’ race, finishing a creditable 32nd.

Bonnie Maugey ran well to finish 15th in the U17 women’s contest, while Rebecca Wilby had a strong showing in the U20 category by placing eighth.

Connor Burford and Jamie Atkins were 26th and 29th respectively in the U17 men’s competition.

Alex Cameron finished 11th in the U20 men’s race, with Michael Jarvis not far behind in 15th.

In the senior age group, Clare Reeves finished 11th for the women, followed home by Lisa Reid in 37th, Jessica Dando in 53rd, Lynne Morgan in 61st, and Stephanie Wood in 70th.

The Dartford men’s team were led home by Ben Louch, who finished in ninth, with Craig Sharp 44th, Des Adkinson 63rd, Nick Varley 72nd, Reuben Burford 85th and Stuart Waterman 106th.
