This live event has finished

  • Eagles boss Tony Pulis makes four changes from the side which stunned West Brom in the FA Cup
  • Captain Jedinak, Jerome, Puncheon and Chamakh come in for the visitors
  • Tottenham will be hoping to put FC Cup misery against Arsenal behind them today

Full time and a forgettable home win but the Eagles made a game of it despite Puncheon blazing over that first half spot kick. Spurs' class told in the second half though as they do the double over the boys from South Norwood in the league this season.

This time the Moroccan heads clean over and that is surely that at the Lane.

Chamakh's deflected header lands on the roof of the net as another Palace corner brings...another Palace corner.

Guediora smashes one from way out and it's not far wide as Lloris simply looks on. It really has been another case of 'what if' this afternoon for the visitors.

This time Delaney ends up in a heap with Lloris but Spurs have a goalkick with four minutes of added time to go.

And they have another! Can't even remember what happened at the last one to be honest.

Adlene Guedioura is on for Puncheon. Five minutes left for Palace to mount an unlikely comeback? They have a corner...

10 minutes to go and Joel Ward shoots well wide with probably only Palace's second effort on goal since half time.

Tottenham bring on Nacer Chadli for Eriksen and straight away the Belgian winger wins a corner after being set off and running down the left by Defoe.

Tottenham's number 18 then nearly set-up Adebayor with a header but Speroni was out quickly to claim.

Parr and the rest of the Palace backline were a little unlucky there as the ball ricoched around before Defoe finished.

2-0 Spurs and no way back for Palace surely as Defoe fights his way free in the box and tucks the ball away right-footed.

Mariappa goes in the book for hauling back Danny Rose. 20 minutes to go and Spurs have been as dominant this half as the Eagles were in the first. Far from a vintage performance from either team though.

Jerome and Bolasie are the ones to make way for Gayle and Williams.

Scratch that, it's Jonathan Williams and Gayle who are to come on.

Dwight Gayle is being readied for the visitors and it looks like Barry Bannan is stripping off too.

First chance for Defoe but he screws his left foot shot wide of the far post. He did well to get an effort in though.

Soldado less than impressed to have been hauled off after another inspid display by the way. Will be interesting to see if he's still first choice should Spurs look to the transfer market this month.

Nearly an hour gone and Cameron Jerome did well to fashion a shooting chance from a tight angle but he hits only the side netting. Palace may be left to rue their failure to make all that pressure count in the first half.

Defoe replaces Soldado.

Kyle Naughton has replaced his namesake Walker for Tottenham at the right-back.

Adebayor has just charged into Speroni after knocking the ball what must have been 15 yards past Mariappa as Spurs attempted a quick counter.

Eriksen gets a second chance and makes no mistake this time, smashing Adebayor's flick-on emphatically past Speroni on the half volley. 1-0 Spurs.

A bit of the hairdryer treatment surely must have been in order from Tim Sherwood and Spurs have responded with Christian Eriksen going close after wriggling free in the box.

And we're underway again at the Lane.

Tottenham's no.9 then has a wild swing at a volley which somehow drops to Christian Eriksen out wide. Needless to say he makes nothing of it and that's half time.

Soldado wins a corner for Spurs and we're nearly done with this half, thank god.

Ok, enough now.

Harsh but fair:

Delaney blocks Lennon's shot as Spurs start to wake up a bit before Nabil Bentaleb hits the corner of post and bar with a fine effort from range.

Yet another Palace corner and Chamakh should have done better after the ball dropped to him in the box.

Chance for Tottenham! It only took half-an-hour but Aaron Lennon digs out a left foot cross for Emmanuel Adebayor head wide while stretching.

Chamakh is furious at Bolasie after the winger fails to latch on to the Morrocan's through ball.

Not much by way of chances though. That said Hugo Lloris has had to claw a deflected Jonathan Parr shot round the post.

Meanwhile the Eagles are giving their travelling fans plenty to sing about with a string of corners and plenty of pressure in a lacklustre Tottenham's half.

Warm applause from the home fans for Toronto-bound Jermaine Defoeb as he warms up.

"Is this the Emirates?" sing the home fans at a quiet N17- they might well ask.

18 minutes gone and it's been sloppy by both teams so far. Lots of passes going astray but Palace would be one-up if it wasn't for Puncheon's horror spot-kick.

Both bosses Sherwood and Pulis have been exercising their vocal chords early on- I can see that vein popping on the Welshman's neck from here.

Oh dear. Oh very dear. Jason Puncheon sends that one into orbit and the home fans are jubilant. Let off for Spurs though after a clumsy challenge by Dembele.

Chamakh brought down by Demebele and it's a pen.

Nabil Bentaleb lets fly from range for Spurs but the French midfielder's effort is well held by Julian Speroni with Roberto Soldado waiting to pounce.

And we're underway with Palace's players sporting an interesting head-to-toe banana-yellow kit.

Welcome to White Hart Lane by the way! Palace take on Spurs on a bright day in north London.

Subs for the Eagles: Price, Moxey, O'Keefe, Williams, Bannan, Guedioura, Gayle.

Crystal Palace start with: Speroni, Mariappa, Gabbidon, Delaney, Parr, Bolasie, Ward, Jedinak, Puncheon, Jerome, Chamakh.
