Bottom of the South London & Kent pool Alliance, Glenmore Arms II provided the shock of the week by beating fourth placed O’Dowds A to come off the bottom, for the first time this season.

The 9-6 victory, only their second of the season, put them level on points with Fox under the Hill but they go above them with one extra win.

As a result, O’Dowds A drop to sixth after both Summerfield and Bellegrove Social Club B. leapfrog them.

Summerfield had a great result, sending Fox under the Hill to the bottom with a 14-1 win, which in turn moved them up to third from fifth.

Bellegrove Social Club B became the fifth team in the division to break the 100-point barrier after their points from the unfinished game were added to this week’s victory over O’Dowds B.

They lost the final frame in the unfinished match but won the game 9-6 overall then went one better to beat O’Dowds 10-5, a great result considering O’Dowds are sitting in second place.

It was a wonderful team performance with Serhat Bulbul, John Ufuoma and John Skuza winning two out of three frames but Sam Pearce went one better in securing all three frames, as did Richard Chapman for O’Dowds.

Despite the two losses O’Dowds B are now on equal points with league leaders, Eltham Terrace Rack Pack, who lost only their third match of the season this week against Pickwick Academicals.

The first two sets were hard fought with Academicals getting a lot of the rub of the green to win them 3-2 but they went on to win the final set 4-1 with the only Rack Pack player troubling the scorer being Tony Frost with a superb break and dish.

Academicals were solid in their 10-5 win, with their Captain, Gary Mason leading from the front, winning all three of his frames along with Chris Bracey.

In the final game of the division, eighth played seventh as White Hart played host to Royal Oak Addicks and there was no change in the positions but White Hart are now only one point behind their opponents after beating them by 10 frames to 5.

O’Connors stay top of the SLKPA Premier Division with an 11-4 victory over Rileys Rebels but Rileys Woolwich close the gap to ten points after their own 12-3 win against Summerfield Nuthouse.

Woolwich played without their Captain, Paul Donohoe who was at home looking after his wife and three-day-old daughter, so Paul Williams stepped up and played a Captain’s role by winning both of his frames with only Tony Halpin and Richie Mitchell going one better in securing all three of their frames.

The Nuthouse were never at the races as they didn’t win their first frame until Shane O’Reilly won the eighth, then Williams made the victory safe before Julie Lancaster sprung a surprise by beating Clive Black to make the score 8-2.

They had to wait until the penultimate frame before they won another with Captain Craig Jones stepping up to the plate.

Another team not at the races was Rileys Rovers who were beaten comprehensively 13-2 by Foots Cray Social Club.

Andre Cox kicked it all off by winning the first frame and almost ended it in style by taking his third of the night in the fourteenth frame with an excellent break and dish.

Lee Osborn won the second frame for Rovers but they didn’t win another until Geoff Evans took the ninth frame and that was it for the night.

Foots Cray were on a roll all night as joining Cox in being unbeaten were, Connor Hewson, Scott Shephard, Steve Krishnan and Steve Gibson who all achieved two out of two.

Bellegrove Social Club A remain in third but join their B team in breaking the 100-point barrier by beating Glenmore Arms A by 9 frames to 6.

Despite losing each set 3-2, Glenmore battled hard with Paul Thomas, Paul Rowlinson and James Grant all winning two of their three frames, with Grant clearing up after his opponent dry broke in the first set.

By far the most exciting match of the night was at North Heath Social Club, where Pickwick were the visitors.

North Heath took a 4-0 lead but Pickwick won the next six frames to go 6-4 in front.

Ian Stringer pulled one back for North Heath, then their Captain, Dave Selby equalised with a break and dish and Pat Deehy put them in front, all three winning to make their personal records two out of three frames.

Pickwick won the penultimate frame to take the match into a final frame decider, which neither player looked like they wanted to win but North Heath’s Brett Crawley eventually did to win the match 8-7.

Pickwick’s Ash Hall matched the North Heath players with two out of three but Dean James went unbeaten in winning both of his frames.
