STEVE Lomas found himself under intense pressure at the final whistle after goals from Middlesbrough’s Emmanuel Ledesma and Albert Adomah condemned the Lions to defeat at The Den. </[p>

Ledesma came on as a first half substitute and curled a delightful effort past Forde just after the break and Adomah wrapped up the points in the 89th minute.

Blustery winds and sheets of rain greeted the players in the first half as conditions seriously hampered the quality of football on offer.

It took 42 minutes for either side to make the opposing keepers work and even then it was a routine stop for Shay Given following an Alan Dunne effort from 25 yards.

Fans had been charged a discount rate of £5 to watch the game but they certainly weren't getting their money's worth as boos rung around The Den as the half-time whistle blew.

Thankfully the second half started a little more brightly and the 11,078 crowd were treated to their first goal of the game just minutes after the restart.

Unfortunately for the majority it came for Middlesbrough.

Argentinian midfielder Ledesma picked up possession on the edge of the box, cut inside Paul Robinson and bent a left-footed effort past a sprawling David Forde and into the bottom corner.

Home supporters were not shy about voicing their opinions as the Lions produced arguably their worst performance at The Den since Lomas took over.

With 62 minutes gone the under-fire manager decided enough was enough and brought on Jermaine Easter in place of the largely ineffective Scott McDonald.

Millwall had their best chance of the game less than 10 minutes after that substitution but Given was on hand to palm away Steve Morison's header on goal.

The Lions were starting to gain the momentum and the gaffer chose to bring Andy Keogh on as Lomas’ men chased the game.

Millwall almost gave themselves an impossible task as Liam Trotter went agonisingly close to an own goal when trying to head clear a corner, but thankfully it bounced just passed the post to safety.

Almost instantly Trotter had a chance to score at the right end but his left-footed effort curled harmlessly over Given's goal.

However, it was game over in the 89th minute when Adomah rounded Forde and slotted into an empty net.

Bottles rained down on the Middlesbrough players as they celebrated and a chorus of ‘We want Lomas out’ rang around The Den at full-time, with Millwall now just four points clear of the drop zone.
