CHARLTON played out an entertaining draw with Bolton at the Reebok this afternoon.

Yann Kermorgant put the visitors ahead early in the 11th minute with a fine strike, but his effort was cancelled out by Kevin McNaughton's late first half effort in a game both sides will feel they could have won.

Chris Powell made three changes from the side that lost 2-0 at home to Derby last weekend.

Danny Green, Bradley Pritchard and Dorian Dervite made way for Chris Solly, Richard Wood and Simon Church as the Addicks went in search of their first win in nearly a month.

The first chance went to the visiting side as Kermorgant flicked the ball into the path of Lawrie Wilson who volleyed wide.

The Addicks remained in the ascendency and made the breakthrough just minutes later.

Rhoys Wiggins’ cross was met on the edge of the area by Kermorgant, who hit the ball first time low past Andrew Lonergan.

The pressure didn't let up and when Cameron Stewart's cross was met by Wilson at the back post, the midfielder scuffed his shot and the chance went as quickly as it had arrived.

Bolton took time to grow into the contest and eventually went close on the half hour mark.

Chris Eagles worked his way down the right and Chung Young Lee's header at the far post was well cleared by Wood.

Lee then went close again when he couldn't quite meet Andre Moritz's lofted through ball as the home side grew in confidence.

But it was Charlton's front two who were asking all the questions of Matt Mills and Tim Ream at the centre of the Trotters’ defence - and the two combined to create another opening.

Church did well to chase down a long ball and his back-heel found Kermorgant, who tested Lonergan.

However, the visitors’ hard work was undone a minute before the interval, gifting Bolton as equaliser with some poor defending.

Eagles found space on the right and squared for full-back McNaughton, who shimmied into the area past two defenders and curled the ball into the top corner.

It was Dougie Freedman's men who went closest to taking the lead after the restart as Ben Alnwick had to get down quickly to tip Joe Mason's header wide.

Kermorgant almost put his side back into the lead when his sublime volley was tipped over the bar by Lonergan as both teams continued to search for the third goal of the contest.

And Chris Powell’s men nearly found it with 20 minutes remaining when Solly’s throw in found Jordan Cousins and the youngster powered into the area, only to see his dangerous cross blocked by Lonergan and scrambled to safety by the Bolton defence.

Solly had a chance of his own when he arrived to meet Stewart’s evasive cross, beating Alex Baptiste before skewing his shot over.

Charlton survived a late Bolton onslaught and managed to hold onto a valuable point as the home team were met with boos as the full time whistle went, but it was a job well done for the Londoners.
