Going into the Christmas break, South London & Kent Pool Alliance Division One leaders, Eltham Terrace Rack Pack have broken the hundred-point mark after this week’s 9-6 victory over Summerfield.

After losing the opening frame, Rack Pack took advantage of some good fortune to win the next five frames and take control of the match.

Tony Frost was the first to turn around a frame he looked like losing, then Chris Unwin benefitted when his opponent rattled his last red, leaving him an easy black.

The remaining frames were nip and tuck with the Summerfield just edging it 5-4 but it wasn’t enough to win the match.

Miro Cujic is in sparkling form after completing three out of three for his third match in a row, with Ernie Wellhausen and Jim Woodbridge both scoring two out of three.

Summerfield drop two places from third to fifth with Pickwick Academicals replacing them after falling one place themselves despite winning 8-7 against Royal Oak Addicks.

It was a close match for the local rivals, situated either side of The Valley but one man shone brighter than all the others and that was the youngster Billy Levingbird, who won all three of his frames and is definitely one to look out for in the future.

Taking Academicals place in second is O’Dowds B, who after beating their A team last week 11-4 went one better this week and triumphed against White Hart by 12 frames to 3.

There were no early Christmas presents given out here as O’Dowds had the game sewn up in the second set, after taking the first set 4-1 and the second 5-0, finishing with a 3-2 victory in the third.

The shining star on the night was Richard Chapman, who won a frame in each set with Shailash Vekaria and Keith Smith both winning two frames each.

O’Dowds A made up for last week’s defeat by beating the team immediately below them, Bellegrove Social Club B, by 10 frames to 5.

The damage was done in the second set, which they won 4-1 as the other two sets they narrowly edged, 3-2.

Kerry Wyatt kept up the form that sees her top of the division’s rankings by winning all three of her frames and Clive Forrest joined her on three out of three on the night.

It’s taken eleven matches but finally Glenmore Arms II have notched up their first win of the season, 9-6 against the team just above them in the table, Fox under the Hill.

Glenmore didn’t have it all their own way as John Hurd recorded three out of three for Fox but Glenmore’s Shane Burnett hit back with his own maximum three out of three.

The SLKPA Premier Division matches were all hard fought as no game finished greater than 9-6 and three matches finished 8-7.

One of the matches that finished 9-6 was between Bellegrove Social Club A and Rileys Rebels.

Bellegrove took an early 4-1 lead and extended that to 7-3 at the end of the second set but Rebels came back in the final set, winning it 3-2 to make the final score 9-6 in Bellegrove’s favour.

Alex Biggs did well on his comeback for Rebels by securing both his frames but Bellegrove’s Danny Foley went one better in winning all three of his frames and to top it off he performed a break and dish in the first set.

Bellegrove go up one place to third, while Rebels stay in eighth.

The other 9-6 match was at Summerfield Nuthouse where it looked as though it was going to be a lot worse for the home team as they went 7-1 down to North Heath Social Club.

Julie Lancaster started the fight back as she won the first of her two frames and Lester Barrow won the last frame of the second set to make it 7-3 but Ian Stringer won the first frame of the final set and his third of the night to seal the win for North Heath.

Dave Selby made it 9-4 with his third frame win before Lancaster and Shane O’Reilly won the final two frames to make the score a more respectable 9-6.

Rileys Woolwich took a 4-1 lead in the first set against Glenmore Arms A but they reversed that in the second to tie the match at 5 all.

Richie Mitchell, Tony Halpin and Clive Black won the first three frames of the last set, with Black’s being his third of the night, to secure victory.

Then Dean Coppen, who had played well all night won his third frame to pull one back for Glenmore and Paul Thomas made an excellent clearance after being given two visits at the beginning of the frame, to make the final score 8-7 to Rileys Woolwich.

Woolwich stay in second but Pickwick drop one place to fourth despite their 8-7 victory over Foots Cray Social Club.

Pickwick did well to win this match after never being in the lead until the final frame.

Andre Cox sealed the first set, 3-2 to Foots Cray with a brilliant break and dish in the fifth frame but Ash Hall tied the match at 5 all with a great break and dish of his own.

Steve Gibson then put Foots Cray ahead again with his second win of two and Paul Slater equalised with his second win of two.

George Covington gave Foots Cray the advantage again but Paul Gafa tied the match again and Martin Storey made a lovely clearance in the final frame decider to give Pickwick the victory.

Like Rack Pack in Division One, O’Connors have also broken the hundred-point mark at the top of the Premier Division with a narrow 8-7 win against Rileys Rovers.

Rovers got off to a good start with Rob Hearn winning the opening frame, the first of his three and Ryan Francis the second but Jordan O’Connor started his team’s recovery with a ‘7-baller’, which led to his team winning seven of the next eight frames, to take a 7-3 lead going into the final set.

Hearn and Francis pulled the score back to 7-5 before Tony Gear sealed the win, after Alan Reed followed through with the white on his final colour, giving Gear two visits on the black.

Lee Osborn pulled another back for Rovers then O’Connors Adam Coppen should have recorded his three out of three but missed the black on a break and dish and Steven Reed cleared all his colours and the black to make the final score 8-7.
