NEWS Shopper understands Sporting Kansas City striker Dom Dwyer is training with Charlton Athletic.

The 23-year-old forward, who was born in West Sussex and started out as a trainee with Norwich City, excelled in the latter stages of Major League Soccer this season and was a key part of the Sporting Kansas City squad which went on to win the MLS cup title game against Real Salt Lake.

But amid the celebrations of that penalty shootout triumph, Dwyer revealed it may have been his last game in America by hinting a potential loan deal with a Championship club could be on the horizon.

“I am just waiting to hear more,” Dwyer told an English national newspaper.

“I have had interest from a few teams and right now I am enjoying listening to those talks.

“It should be a fun pre-season.”

Dwyer arrived back in England late last week and has since been training at Sparrows Lane, although it isn’t clear yet if he is just keeping fit with the Addicks or whether they are the Championship club he referred to in his earlier interview.
