STEVE Lomas is determined there will be no repeat of Millwall’s last away display when they travel to Ewood Park this weekend to take on Blackburn Rovers.

The Lions were on the wrong end of a footballing lesson when well beaten 3-0 at Leicester a fortnight ago and it could have been a lot worse but for some excellent saves by the ever reliable David Forde.

Millwall have responded well to the Foxes fiasco by picking up four points from two back-to-back Den games with Nottingham Forest and Wigan.

But with only one away win to their name so far this season, Lomas knows the club’s travel sickness needs to be cured quickly – starting in Lancashire on Saturday.

The manager said: “Blackburn are a bit like ourselves in that their home form has been decent but they’ve struggled a bit on their travels.

“I’ve played there and it is never an easy place to go with a big pitch.

“Where we are at as a team at the minute we’ve got to certainly put in good performances to get results.

“We’ve had a chat as a group to say we are an honest group but what we don’t want to do is get labelled as a team that can only win at home who are a bit of a soft touch on our travels.

“I think anybody can lose away from home in the Championship, that is just the nature of this division, but it is the manner of how you go about it.

“The manner of the defeat at Leicester was as poor as we’ve played in quite a while.

“I was massively disappointed with the performance and energy levels.”

Lomas added: “Bolton away was a game we could have got something from but just as in any Championship game little things conspired against us in terms of getting back into it at 1-1 and then conceding just before half-time when their crowd were getting edgy.

“Ultimately we’ve got to go and try to reproduce the performance and energy levels that we are doing at home away from home.

“You can over analyse it but when you go away from home you know you are going to come under spells of pressure, that goes without saying.

“It is about being resolute and sometimes hanging in there, because we have done it at times like away at Reading 1-0 down where he hang in there, keep it at 1-0 and then we get our rewards at the end of the game.

“Even at Leicester where we went in 1-0 at half-time, as bad as we’d played we were still in the game.

“But to concede two so quickly, and off our own set piece as well, was massively disappointing.”
