WESTCOMBE Park had too much determination, guile and discipline for a Barking side surprisingly adept at keeping the ball, writes Mike Attewell.

The final score of five tries, three conversions and two penalties to three penalties doesn’t flatter Combe when they had no more than 40 per cent of possession. Barking spent most of the first period deep in Combe’s half but finished with just two Ollie Forrest penalties.

Combe, with tries for Hamish Barton and Trent Nattrass, two penalties and a conversion for Iain Gordan went into the interval leading 18-6.

Barking scored their third penalty very early in the second half but positional changes in the pack began to get more possession for Combe and three tries in the last quarter of an hour sealed a big win for the Orpingston side.

The first was a penalty try, the second from prop Matt Poole, both converted by Gordan, and the third from full-back Alex Smith.
