Pickwick Academicals lose only their second game of the season, this week but with it came losing their position at the top of South London & Kent Pool Alliance Division One, as they went down to a spirited O’Dowds B team.

O’Dowds did most of their damage in the first set, winning it 4-1 and they also went on to win the other two sets, by a 3-2 score line in each, making the overall score 10-5.

Richard Chapman won all three of his frames, Keith Smith, Dan Heffer and Dave Mitchell all took two frames with Mitchell only missing a full house due to a great frame from the youngster Billy Levingbird.

O’Dowds A rubbed salt into Academicals wounds by thrashing Fox under the Hill 11-4 to go into second place, one point ahead of Academicals.

The first set was close with O’Dowds just edging it 3-2 but they turned on the style in the final two sets winning them both 4-1.

Kerry Wyatt and Clive Forrest both won all three of their frames with Alan Dolan winning both of his, as did James Flicking for Fox.

Taking over from Academicals at the top but only by one point, are Eltham Terrace Rack Pack, who beat Bellegrove Social Club B this week by 8 frames to 7.

The closeness of this match was reflected in the fact that only Tony Frost came away unbeaten with three wins out of three.

Glenmore Arms II Captain, Jason Brunton couldn’t prevent his team from losing despite winning all three of his frames.

Royal Oak Addicks were the victors by 8 frames to 7 to stay in sixth place in the table.

Also not moving are Summerfield, who stay in fourth despite beating White Hart 9-6.

With only thirteen points separating the top eight teams, this division looks to be going right down to the wire.

In the SLKPA Premier Division, there is no change at the top as each of the top four teams came away with victories.

Biggest winners of the night were second placed Pickwick, who comprehensively beat Rileys Rovers, winning each set 4-1 to make the overall score 12-3.

Alan Formosa, Paul Slater and George Hammond helped to reduce the gap at the top of the table to five points, by each winning all three of their frames.

Ryan Francis was the only player to come out with any credit for Rovers as he won all three of their frames.

Bellegrove Social Club A are only one point behind Pickwick with their own big win, by 11 frames to 4 over North Heath Social Club.

Bellegrove took an early 5-0 lead and never let North Heath back in, as they won the other two sets 3-2.

Tonight was the night if your name was Dan, as Foley won all three of his frames and Heinink and Vowles both scored two out of two, with Vowles recording a third set break and dish against Ian Stringer, who got a break and dish himself in the second set.

O’Connors are now top by only five points after beating Summerfield Nuthouse 10-5.

Jordan O’Connor won all three of his frames as did Joe Kane, whose maximum included a ‘7-baller’ after a dry break in the final set, and Nuthouse Captain Craig Jones also scored three out of three.

As a result, Nuthouse’s time off the bottom only lasted a week but they are only a point behind both Rovers and Rileys Rebels, who jumped two places despite losing 9-6 to Rileys Woolwich.

It was an odd match, as Rebels won the first three frames, Woolwich the next nine and Rebels the final three.

Clive Black was the only player to go unbeaten on the night, winning all three of his frames but Paul Donohoe and Craig Mallinder came close, triumphing in two of their three frames.

Both Foots Cray Social Club and Glenmore Arms A go up one place into fifth and sixth respectively, after their close match against each other ended 8-7 in Foots Cray’s favour.

It was a real seesaw battle as Glenmore won the first set 3-2 but Foots Cray got a whitewash, 5-0 in the second and needed just the one frame for victory.

Glenmore held out for the first two frames of the set but Andre Cox won his third frame of the night, which included a break and dish and a clearance from a dry break to win the match for Foots Cray, before Glenmore took the final two frames to win the last set 4-1.
