MILLWALL defender Mark Beevers wants a quick response after admitting his side can have few complaints with the outcome of Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Leicester.

Only a string of fine saves from David Forde prevented a more humiliating final score as the Lions were well and truly put in their place by the Foxes, who went top of the table at the final whistle.

Leicester had an incredible 30 efforts on goal but only three went in, Lloyd Dyer’s 12th minute opener being added to by an early second half brace from Jamie Vardy.

Vardy’s first came when he was put clear by Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel straight from a Millwall corner and his second after latching on to a weak header back to Forde from Scott Malone.

Beevers accepted there was no excuse for the errors, but backed the Lions to bounce back positively like they have done already on previous occasions this season to similar setbacks.

The central defender said: “We knew Leicester would be a big test, every team in the league knows that, but we’ve got to be disappointed with the goals we’ve conceded.

“They were very much avoidable from our point of view.

“The first one came from us not picking up a midfield runner and maybe we should have been tighter as a back four.

“For the second goal they broke from our corner, which they probably did ten times throughout the game, and that’s not good enough.”

Beevers added: “Scott Malone made a mistake for the third, which is just one of those things.

“Some people might think that we rolled over and they took the mick out of us a little bit, but the only positive is that we didn’t concede a stupid amount of goals.

“David Forde made a lot of good saves but it was a very bad day at the office.

“We’ve got to get back on the horse. We responded to a big defeat to Derby earlier in the season and we are more than capable of doing the same again.”

Team-mate Liam Feeney returned to the starting XI at the King Power and echoed Beevers’ assertion Millwall were the creators of their own downfall.

The winger said: “They were bad mistakes for the goals, the timings of the goals were bad - it just all went wrong really. We shouldn't be conceding the second goal five seconds after our own set piece.

“We had a couple of warnings in the first half when they broke on us, so we spoke about it at half time but they then scored on their first counter attack. That was a killer for us.

“Leicester played really well on the day and they are top of the league for a reason, but we did them a lot of favours and didn't do ourselves justice.

“That was a big disappointment. It's hard to take any positives when the game goes like that.”

Feeney added: “Tuesday is a chance for us to right the wrongs.

“We're at home and we owe it to ourselves, the club and the fans to put on a good performance, and hopefully that can end in us getting the right result.”
