ALREADY proud holders of the skill development silver award, Saxon Crown Swimming Club was awarded a second silver honour, this time for teaching, writes Victoria Harney. The Lewisham-based club was presented with the accolade by Janna Callan, the Amatuer Swimming Association regional development officer to club chairman Keith Bagnall.
During her speech, Callan explained this was not an easy award to come by and Saxon Crown should be very proud of its achievements.
The award was the crowning moment of the special evening as the audience, made up of swimmers and parents, applauded loudly.
Saxon Crown's strong ties with the Sharks, a swimming club for the disabled, based in Mottingham, were highligted on a night of awards, as two of their swimmers were presented cheques for £100 each for competing in the Special Olympics European Youth Games.
Joseph Peciuch won gold and two silver medals, with Peter Faithfull winning a silver medal, and coming fourth and fifth in backstroke and freestyle events held in Rome.
