CHRIS Powell is in the running for the October Championship manager of the month award.

Powell’s Charlton side kept three clean sheets during an unbeaten four-game run which included a trio of draws and one victory, an impressive response to the three straight defeats to Huddersfield, Millwall and Burnley in late September.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche is also in the running for the October manager of the month prize along with Derby’s Steve McClaren and Leicester’s Nigel Pearson.

Powell said: “I don’t think I will win it somehow but it is always great to be nominated.

“It just shows that we’ve picked up somewhat.

“There wasn’t loads of wins in there but we’ve had an unbeaten run so it is great that it has been noticed.

“It would be nice to keep getting nominated every month, that would mean the side is doing well.

“I haven’t won it in the Championship, I’ve been nominated a couple of times so we will see what happens.”

The winner will be announced tomorrow.
