MEMBERS of Meapa Gymnastics Club in Gravesend triumphed at the annual 2013 regional grade championships in Guildford.

Gymnasts from Kent, Sussex and Surrey gathered to battle it out in this prestigious annual and unique event.

Competing across the four disciplines of vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor, the Meapa squad proved once again they can compete at the very highest level.

The atmosphere was electric and the rivalry intense, which encouraged the Meapa squad to give of their best and winning a host of medals.

Golds were won by Morgan Jolley and Maddie Roberts, with silver for Hollie Podger and Amy Spaul, Caitlyn Firth, Eliesh Keane, Eve Hudson securing bronze.

The club also walked away with two silver team medals and one bronze.

Head coach Yuriy Zhovtyuk said: “This unique competition demonstrates to the gymnasts the importance of team work and the need to support and encourage others.

“These are important skills we all need in life and which being a gymnast helps foster and develop.

“The results achieved by everyone involved were outstanding.”
