LEWISHAM boxer Rossco Parker says it is the thought of redemption which has been the driving force for his return to action later this month.

The 36-year-old is set to face middleweight rival Andy Thompson in the Queensbury Boxing League on October 26 at the Copthorne Effingham Park Hotel in West Sussex.

Parker was last in action back in May when he narrowly lost out to old rival Sam Holloway in a thrilling five-round war for the league’s vacant English Middleweight title.

Now the Lewisham man is set to take on an opponent he has described as a mirror image of himself when the pair do battle in front of the British Eurosport cameras.

Like Parker, Thompson will be returning to action looking to rebuild after suffering his first loss in the competition to former British title challenger Danny Lineham nearly a year ago.

And Parker believes this will turn out to be another contender for fight of the night when the pair collide.

He said: “To be honest our styles are made for each other and after seeing Andy fight before, I know this is going to be non-stop punching from start to finish.

“I’ve been very impressed with what I’ve seen of Andy so far in the competition.

“I know he’s going to be fit, strong and fast coming into this fight, so it has all the ingredients to be a cracker.

“Training wise things have been going really well.

“I’ve been working with lots of physically strong fighters who are going to push me as hard as I believe Thompson will.

“But what’s driving me on for this fight most of all is redemption after losing out to Holloway last time out.”
