Canada Heights all set for motocross thriller
3:56pm Tuesday 1st October 2013 in Sport
THE crazy world of sidecar motocross racing returns to Swanley at the famous Canada Heights circuit on Sunday.
This is the final round of the 2013 Maxxis British Sidecarcross championships and could result in a record breaking eleventh title for Macclesfield's Stuart Brown.
Brown and his passenger Josh Chamberlain are defending the title they won in 2012.
Brown has already won the title 10 times, equalling the record set by Maidstone's Chris Etheridge, and in the last 16 races at Canada Heights has won 14, finished runner-up and suffered one DNF in 2011 when his gearbox broke.
He and Chamberlain are leading the championship race by 54 points from Brett Wilkinson-Craig Parmenter, with Nick Jarvis-Ryan Humphrey in third.
The leading duo have just finished sixth in the world championships and have only been beaten once in any race in the UK this year.
But nothing is certain until the arithmetic confirms the crown is theirs, so the other 25 or so riders who will be lining up on Sunday will be doing their utmost to beat them.
Amongst this number are two crews who will have travelled all the way from Northern Ireland, plus a number of wildcard riders who have not registered for the championship but can ride and are eligible to score points.
After last year's unfortunate event when mother nature had the final say, organisers are hoping the rain stays away.
The sidecars are supported by British championship quads and a full solo support programme.
Entry is £10, there is ample parking and the venue sign posted from the Swanley roundabout at junction three of the M25.
