Exiles youngsters bid to impress on national stage
10:25am Tuesday 17th September 2013 in Sport
KENT Exiles U17s will compete at the national youth finals on Saturday at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium against seven other of the UK’s top sides.
The Chislehurst-based American Football side are seeded number two at the event following an impressive season which has seen them win 16 of their 17 matches to date.
They boast an 11-1 winning record in the national SE Division, finishing ahead of the current national champions in the process.
Kent Exiles U17s have a cross section of players from all backgrounds and a wide geographical area, since it is the only team in Kent playing competitively at this level.
Although the age range is 14 to 17, the Exiles are reasonably young, with an average age of 15 years and six months.
More remarkable is the fact two thirds of the squad are in their first season playing the sport.
