North Heath finish with a flourish
In their first summer season in the South London & Kent Pool Alliance, North Heath Social Club have had a creditable season ending in the playoff spot and second in the table after finishing the season with an emphatic victory.
They already had second place secured but that didn’t stop them thrashing Glenmore Arms II by 3 sets to 0 and 12 frames to 3.
Captain Dave Selby and Ian Stringer, who have been consistent all season finished by winning all three of their frames.
The playoff match against Beech Tree Nuthouse should be a good close match.
Royal Oak have been the clear Tier Two East leaders all season but they couldn’t finish the season with a win after going down 2-1 & 8-7 to New Eltham Social Club.
The first two sets were shared with a 3-2 score line in each and the third set was poised at two all before New Eltham captain Stephen Unwin produced a brilliant clearance to win the deciding frame and the match.
Jim Woodbridge and Tony Frost were both impressive in winning their two out of three frames.
A couple of weeks ago New Eltham were second bottom so they have done incredibly well to finish third.
Another team to finish well in the division is White Hart who picked up their second win of the season 2-1 & 8-7 against Bellegrove Social Club B, who have been falling to the wayside a little in recent weeks.
In Tier Two West, we had teams at either end of the spectrum facing each other, with unbeaten Rileys Rebels coming up against yet to win Rileys Unstoppables.
The match went true to form as Rebels finish the season fifteen games unbeaten with a 3-0 & 13-2 victory, but Unstoppables really didn’t help themselves by turning up a man short.
Rebels were 4-0 up in the first set and looking to get the whitewash but Alex Biggs went in off the black to spoil that.
The second set was also won 4-1 before they finally got the whitewash in the final set with Declan Kelly and Alex Dobbins winning a frame in each set.
Another team with a great end of season is Kings Arms who have finished in third place after their latest win against Pickwick Academicals, 3 sets to 0 and 10 frames to 5.
They won the first set 4-1 then went on to win the last two sets 3-2 with Alan Dolan and Kerry Wyatt winning in each set and Kerry’s dad Tom victorious in both of his frames.
