STEVE Lomas is challenging Shaun Derry to impress during his loan spell at The Den and win a longer deal.

Derry could be set to make his Millwall debut at Ipswich on Saturday after agreeing a 28-day loan switch to the Lions from QPR.

The 35-year-old veteran midfielder will bring a wealth of experience, with manager Lomas suggesting an extended stay could well be on the cards.

He said: “Shaun is a very experienced player - he is a leader with a couple of promotions under his belt and more importantly he is desperate to play.

“Shaun was desperate to come here and prove he can earn a long-term contract with Millwall.”
