ORPINGTON middleweight boxing prospect Dan Maguire says he is buzzing about his return to action next month.

The 25-year-old is preparing to take on Bedford’s Darryl Davidson in the Queensbury League on September 14 at Epsom racecourse.

It was at the same venue the building contracts manager made an impressive debut in the competition back in March, beating teak tough Londoner Joey Pirotta over four rounds to set up next month’s clash with Davidson.

And the former amateur standout says he is ready to make an assault on the British rankings after putting on another polished performance in front of the British Eurosport cameras.

Maguire, who is trained by his father Wayne, enjoyed a successful career in the amateur ranks amassing an impressive record of more than 40 contests, which saw him captain London on several occasions.

And after mixing it with some of the best in the unpaid ranks, he feels more than capable of challenging the best the Queensbury Boxing League has to offer over the forthcoming season.

The Orpington man said: “It’s great to be back in action now and I’m really buzzing about the fight on September 14.

“I’m hoping to put on another smooth polished performance.

“I had a great run in the amateurs, but my final season was hampered when I tore my shoulder ligaments in the ABA’s, which forced me to withdraw.

“But I’ve been back in training for a while and everything is going really well.

“My aim now is to keep busy and obviously keep winning.

“The better the opponent I face, the better I will perform and I’m sure Darryl Davidson is going to bring the best out of me and make this an exciting fight for the fans to watch.”
