CATFORD Wanderers Cricket Club will play host to a trio of England international women’s cricketers later this month.

Susie Rowe (above), Lydia Greenway and Beth Morgan will be looking to inspire the next generation of girls to play cricket and help grow the club’s women’s and girls’ section when they visit on May 22 at 5.30pm.

The trio will be attending as Chance to Shine coaching ambassadors in a week which will see them visit various clubs across Kent and south-east London.

They will deliver a free taster session open to girls of all abilities aged seven and over.

Now well into its eighth year, the Chance to Shine campaign continues to motivate and educate young people through cricket, with more girls than ever playing in 2012.

Of the 350,000 youngsters engaged in Chance to Shine last year, 46 per cent were female.

Kent Cricket Board’s cricket development officer Natasha Newman said: “We are delighted three England cricketers are visiting our county and its schools and clubs.

“It will be a real inspiration for the girls to be coached by England women’s cricketers and hopefully they will continue to play cricket and enjoy the game as a result.

“We are looking to expand the women’s and girls’ section at Catford Wanderers Cricket Club and are urging as many girls as possible to come along and attend this event on May 22.”
