CRYSTAL Palace midfielder Jonny Williams says the Eagles are confident of securing a play-off spot after last night’s 0-0 draw with Millwall at The Den.

Williams was a second half substitute as Palace were frustrated by the Lions’ resilient defending, but the Welsh international knows it was a point gained rather than two dropped.

“I thought the boys showed good character tonight,” he said.

“To keep a clean sheet is never a bad thing and we are all just really looking forward to Saturday now.

“It was a frantic south London derby, but nothing we didn’t expect.

“We knew they would battle and be up for it, and so were we, which reflected on the score-line.

“We would have liked to pass it around a bit more but at the end of the day we have a point in a derby away from home.”

Palace know a point at home to Peterborough on Saturday should secure a play-off place, although Williams admits the Eagles’ lack of form at present is playing on the players’ minds.

Last night’s draw made it nine games without a win but the creative midfield man believes a vital win is just around the corner.

“We are going into the game on Saturday extremely positively,” Williams said.

“Although we haven’t lost in a few games it has been a while since we got a win, but hopefully it will come on Saturday.

“We have been playing better recently, so it is only a matter of time until we get that win.

“It’s in our hands now.

“We can get a good result at home and end the season on a high.”

On a personal level, Williams is delighted to have made great strides in the Eagles’ first team this season.

The 19-year-old knows four wins in a row now will see his beloved Palace back in the Premier League and that would be a dream come true after a great season.

“I’ve only missed one game since Boxing Day,” Williams said.

“I’m really delighted to be fit.

“It’s been around four months now, which is my longest run in the team, and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.

“I’m looking forward to the end of the season for sure.

“It would be a dream come true if we can get to the Premier League, but we are focussed on Peterborough.”
