LIONS boss Kenny Jackett says there are no hard feelings towards Leicester strike duo Chris Wood and Harry Kane ahead of Millwall’s televised Good Friday trip to the King Power Stadium.

Wood and Kane both enjoyed prolific loan spells at The Den under Jackett, but have instead both ended up plying their trade with the Foxes.

The circumstances of Wood’s mid-season switch to Leicester from West Brom are still a sore point for many Millwall supporters after the Lions tabled a lucrative offer to make sure the New Zealander became a Lion on a permanent basis in January.

Instead he chose to join Nigel Pearson’s side but there is no animosity from the Lions manager ahead of this Friday’s Championship game, the first time Wood will have faced Millwall since his departure.

“They both did well for us,” said Jackett.

“I thank them for that and I wish them all the best with their careers.

“Players move on from football clubs very quickly, as do managers and coaches.

“If you look at the two Charlton games, there were three players who played for Millwall in the first game against Charlton who played in the second one – David Forde, Danny Shittu and Liam Trotter.

“That shows you the sort of turnover of players.

“The most important thing always is the club but like I say these two guys (Wood and Kane) did very well for us.

“We do already know plenty about them, although with television and prozone opposition analysis is pretty conclusive nowadays anyway.”

Millwall’s record against Leicester is pretty impressive and Jackett is aiming to extend it in front of the Sky cameras.

“I hope it continues,” the Den chief said.

“We usually do very well in televised games and put on good performances.

“There are four games coming up between now and the FA Cup semi-final.

“We are five points off third from bottom, which is tight, and it just shows you how good the division is this year and how close it is.

“We are on 47 points with 10 games left and we’ve still got a lot to do.

“This easter weekend is an opportunity to pick up points and that is how we have to look at it because we want to be moving away from the foot of the table and not get dragged in to a relegation battle as the season goes on.

“It is better to pick up those points sooner rather than later.

“The sides at the bottom have been on fire and done very, very well.

“That just shows you how competitive it is but the good thing is it is in our hands, so we’ve got to get our own job done first and foremost.”
