American friendly date for basketball side

CRYSTAL Palace-based basketball side London Lions will host American outfit Lakenheath Eagles on Sunday.

They were due to face Leicester Riders, but had to postpone the game because their opponents are in action in the BBL Trophy Final 24 hours earlier.

Lakenheath Eagles, who are preparing for the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) tournament in Germany at the end of the month, were delighted to step in.

Lions coach Vince Macaulay said: “It’s vital we stay in game shape, every BBL game now is pivotal.”

Sunday’s game tips off at 5pm at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, tickets are still available at Ticketmaster or on the door.
