Townley finish runners up at Kent cricket event

HAVING qualified for the county finals via the north Kent cluster of the Lady Taverner’s indoor U13 girls’ cricket competition, Townley Grammar School played in the county finals at the Kent CCC home ground in Canterbury.

In an exciting four-team round-robin competition, Townley returned home with a silver medal as runners-up.

A comfortable win against Highworth in the opening game was a good start, but losing the second match to eventual winners Bromley High was disappointing.

Going into the last match against Tunbridge Wells the silver medal was up for grabs and Townley just got home by six runs made it a tense affair.

The runners-up spot was just reward for the team’s efforts this winter.
