World Cup winner and former British Lion Lawrence Dallaglio was at Blackheath’s Club @ Well Hall ground on Wednesday, hosting an event involving around 50 young people from across London.

The occasion was in support of the Dallaglio Foundation for Rugby Change, a project designed to target disadvantaged youngsters and provide support for them to make the most of their talents.

‘Today is a Six Nations street rugby event, with teams from six London boroughs representing each of the six countries,’ said Lawrence.

‘It’s a programme we run throughout the year for kids from troubled backgrounds, Pupil Referral Units and school exclusion units, and today is a reward for all the work they’ve put in, in trying to improve their lives.’

‘It gives them an introduction to rugby and the values around the game, and enables them to take pride in themselves and helps them to make the right life choices.’

‘We’re very grateful to Blackheath for their support today,’ he continued.  ‘Our goal is to grow the foundation and get more kids involved and hold a similar event around the 2015 World Cup.’
