Foots Cray fight back for place in semi

This week saw a break in the South London & Kent Pool Alliance league action with The Founders Cup taking focus and Foots Cray Social Club in particular, who battled back from 7-3 down against Bellegrove Social Club B to win the tie 8-7.
Foots Cray captain Scott Shephard started well with a first visit dish in the first set for the first of his three frame wins but Division One side Bellegrove shocked their Premier Division opponents by winning the other four frames in the set.
They went on to win the next set 3-2 to go 7-3 up but Foots Cray won the first four frames of the last set to set up a final frame decider between reserve player Aaron Shephard and Terry Mitchell with Shephard ignoring the pressure to win it for Foots Cray.
They will face top of the Premier Division Rileys Woolwich who had a harder game than they thought against Division Two side Summerfield.
Matty Flockhart and Tony Halpin were on form and inspired the 8-7 win with their three out of threes.
Summerfield did incredibly well to push them all the way.
The other Division Two side in the competition, North Heath Social Club also faced premiership opposition in the guise of Pickwick.
North Heath Fought hard but Pickwick were just too strong winning by 8 frames to 5 but they were not too strong for Ian Stringer who won three of their five frames.
Ash Hall was the only unbeaten player for Pickwick with two frame wins.
Pickwick will meet the team just above them in the league Rileys Hotshots who overcame O’Connors 8-4.
Hotshots won the first set 4-1 with Tony Gear performing a break and dish for O’Connors frame.
O’Connors went on to win the second set 3-2 but Hotshots secured the first two frames of the final set to win the match with Richard Chapman man of the match by winning a frame in each set.
The semi finals are due to be played on 28 March at Woolwich Rileys.
