BROMLEY will probably feel they dropped two points at Woking’s Kingfield Stadium on Tuesday evening when they drew with Hayes & Yeading United.

On a pitch which cut up badly, the visitors dominated the first half but somehow found themselves a goal in arrears at the break.

Louie Theophanous and Mike Jones went close in the opening minutes before Theophanous was denied by Hayes & Yeading keeper Brendan Hall.

In their first attack, the home side were denied by Sanchez Ming on 16 minutes when he made a timely-tackle on Tom Collins in the 18-yard box.

Hall was out quickly to dive at the feet of Theophanous one minute later following a good cross by Ishmael Welsh before the centre forward’s right-foot strike came back off the bar from Pierre Joseph-Dubois’s cross.

The woodwork came to the rescue of the home side again in the 37th minute when a rasping 20-yard drive from Theophanous hit the foot of the post and then Danny Waldren’s effort was well saved by Hall moments later.

Despite all the pressure, it was Hayes & Yeading who opened the scoring in the 41st minute from a free-kick just outside the area. John Goddard’s kick squirmed through the defensive wall to leave Tom Collins free on goal and the Stockport County loanee placed his effort wide of Joe Welch for his fourth goal in as many matches since his move south.

The second half, in comparison, was a drab affair and after Waldren’s free-kick had sailed over, Bromley squared things up in the 55th minute.

A long pass into the area was going nowhere until Mark Bentley went for a routine clearance.

But under no pressure, the defender completely missed his kick and Theophanous pounced to cross into the area, where Joseph-Dubois had a simple task to convert his 13th goal of the season.

There was little else in the half to enthuse the sparse crowd, with hardly any goalmouth action. Goddard sent a free-kick wide for the home side, while Theophanous’ shot on the turn went over the bar.

But Bromley will rue the host of chances which went begging in the first 45 minutes and must consider it two points dropped rather than one gained.

Saturday sees the Lillywhites travel to Billericay (3pm).
