Blackheath & Bromley’s Montell Douglas was delighted to set a new personal best of 7.25 for the 60 metres at the Newham Indoor meeting last week. This is inside the 7.30 British qualifying time for the European Indoor Championships which take place in Gothenburg, Sweden next month.
The British 100 metre record holder will now have her fingers crossed in the hope the selectors will add her name to the GB squad this week.
She followed her performance at Newham with a 7.33 clocking at the British Athletics Grand Prix at Birmingham, a time which did not gain her a place in the final.
Lauren Bouchard ran 55.40 in the 400 metres.
