Gaffer wants Addicks to go one better against Spurs

MANAGER Bill Long hopes Charlton’s women’s team will be motivated for their last shot at silverware by memories of last season’s shock 2-0 London Cup semi final loss to Tottenham.
The Addicks travel once again to Harlow to face Spurs in the same round of the competition, with the chance of a final against Arsenal reserves or Millwall Lionesses as their reward.
And having been dumped out of the Premier League Cup and FA Cup to Leeds United and the lowly Oxford United respectively, Long hopes the Addicks can bounce back.
He said: “We aren’t going to take it lightly, we are going to take it as seriously as we can.
“This is probably our only chance of silverware now, so we are going to go all out to try our damnedest to win it.
“You’d hope last season’s loss would be a thing where they would take on board what happened to them and use it as motivation.
“You can’t take these games lightly and you know you have to put the effort in to get results.
“It is one of our aims to win silverware this season as well as doing well in the league.
“This is our last chance, so we really do have to make the best of the situation.”
