CRYSTAL Palace manager Ian Holloway is backing his team to rediscover the winning touch with has deserted his side in recent months.

The Eagles have won just two of their last 11 Championship games, although six of the other nine have finished as draws and the Selhurst club remain in the play-off zone.

Their latest draw came at Watford last Friday when Holloway’s side battled back from 2-0 down at the break to finish the game all square at 2-2.

And although pleased with the manner of that recovery, the SE25 boss knows now is the time to start collecting three points instead of one.

He explained: “We’ve got to get used to winning again, I know it sounds strange.

“We’ve had a lot of late comebacks, we’ve had a lot of changes to the personnel with injuries and all sorts of stuff.

“I believe that little negative period that everybody has in the season is well and truly over.

“I look at the atmosphere out there and the way the lads have valiantly fought back and actually gone back to committing to what I want them to do.

“We’ve dominated both of our last games in the second half and we could have ended up scoring five or six goals in that time.

“That’s all I’m trying to get into them – that’s what we are capable of, let’s go and do it.”

Holloway added: “You’ve got to get out of what has recently happened and just be positive in thinking the chances we have created against these teams has given us something that we’ve got to try and harness in the first half.

“Everything was going for us a few months ago, without a shadow of a doubt.

“We had three penalties in 10 minutes in what I think was my first home game. You don’t always get that, do you?

“We’ve scored four goals in the last two games and we’ve got to keep trying and do that.

“When we do that I think we are pretty difficult to stop.”

And Holloway is pleased to have a few more choices to make when naming his team following the recent impact made by his substitutions against Charlton and the Hornets.

He said: “I don’t think there is any reason why Kevin Phillips or Stephen Dobbie or Jonny Williams can’t be selected from the start, whereas when I first got them, and where Jonny was a couple of weeks ago - I didn’t think he was ready to be picked from the start.

“That gives me a whole myriad of different options which I’m really looking forward to.

“That will be tough, and it will be tough how everyone else takes it, but I can splice that and go a tad more attacking from the start.

“For me, we’ve got two home games now and I want six points.

“I know the fans want six points.

“We’ve got to believe with every sinew of our body that is all that matters and I think if we can commit to attacking from the start of the game right the way through it – the whole 95 minutes – I think we can win these games.

“That’s what we intend to do.”
